Big surprise from surprise guests!
When we returned from a quick family visit to Holland there was a big surprise waiting for us at our B&B in Inverness. On our doorstep there was this big box from Thorntons chocolates that was sent to us by Graham & Sharon our surprise guests last week. The story:
We received a phone call at about 11am last Saturday from someone who was on the train to Inverness and asked if it was ok to check in at about 2:30 that day. I was a bit surprised as we had closed our B&B over the winter and we weren’t aware of someone checking in that day. Not wanting to disappoint the people we said “yeah sure you can check in any time” and after hanging up we rushed to clean the room and public area’s, in the meantime thinking how we have missed this booking. When Graham and Sharon checked in we had to apologise as we weren’t ready yet, made tea and asked to have a look at the confirmation of the booking.
It was then that we discovered that the reservation was for four days and not for one. Which was a bit of a problem as we had availability for one night but not for four as our diary was full with early starts and we couldn’t serve breakfast for those days. As the booking was made with Last minute.com we phoned them and after a lot of phoning around we got through to Eviivo who was responsible for the booking. They admitted they made a mistake with the booking and they would find alternative accommodation…..
They certainly did and after we had confirmation that they found alternative accommodation we drove Graham and Sharon to their new “home” for the next four days. Eviivo booked the luxury 4 star Glenmoriston Town House hotel which was certainly a good upgrade!
We were glad that Graham and Sharon found alternative accommodation as it was not a good start of their holiday. We hope they will add some info on things todo and see in and around Inverness to our Facebook page.
As mentioned above a week later we received this really nice Thank You in the form of a BIG box of Thorntons chocolates. Totally unexpected but very much appreciated!
Graham and Sharon, thank you both so much for your wonderful gesture and next time you come to Inverness give us a call and we’ll be happy to accommodate you properly this time!

Hogmanay in Inverness!
This year the Highland Council organised an Inverness Winter Festival with live bands and fireworks to celebrate the New Year. We went to city centre with our friend Jean and had a great time! Great live music and atmosphere. We made a small clip which can be viewed here.
Happy New Year to everyone!
Top chef at Inverness Restaurant
Albert Roux will take over the kitchens at Rocpool Reserve in April 2009. Excellent news as this hotel/restaurant is only a 7 minute walk from us. We will certainly give it a try. I’ll better start saving now!
Loch Ness walk ending up at the Dores Inn
Yesterday, we made a lovely walk at the shores of Loch Ness and ended up at the newly opened Dores Inn to warm up. It was a nice cold December Sunday and the hot chocolate faterwards worked a treat!
Fully booked over November.
Sorry everybody but during November my mother in law is coming over from Holland to stay with us and have some rest, so unfortunately we can’t sell her room (although I suggested it to Pam) during that time. We will be back in business over December.
PS Wish me luck

Our first Tripadvisor review!
Yahoo!!! We just got our first Tripadvisor review!!!!
5 star review from one of our first guests from Australia, I remember them well, nice couple! See the review below. Thanks Al and Kerrin, much appreciated!
“The Creevale B&B is one of the best B&B’s I have stayed at. Renee, our host, was very friendly and helpful with any questions that we asked. The breakfast was great and made to order for us and the room was comfy with a large bathroom also. I highly recommend this B&B.”

Edinburgh workshop
Now at Tthe Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Great venue and lots of interactivity! We stayed at the 10 Hill Place Hotel in Edinburgh. Lovely stay, great rooms and right in Edinburgh’s city centre. And yes, free wifi in every room!
Stayed in a lovely Perth Hotel
Last night (Monday the 23rd of June) I stayed in a lovely small hotel in Perth called the Sunbank House Hotel. I stayed there with my collegues Stewart and Alaistar on a business trip and recommend it to others. Close to city centre, great service, free wifi and only a 2 hours drive from Creevale B&B. I’ll defenitily will be back!
Rhubarb!
We’ve just finished harvesting the rhubarb from our garden. Pam is making a lovely compote from it to and even better a crumble! It’s fantastic with local natural yoghurt and handpicked fruit. You’re in for a treat at breakfast!
Getting ready…
Just working hard to get our new B&B ready to open for the first week in June. Difficult, as the weather is so fantastic! Most of the time we were sitting in the garden enjoying the sunshine and listening to the birds in the garden. I guess we have to work during the evenings now.
Look forward to welcome our first guests in June. It’s been a few years since we left the hotel business and we started to miss the buzz.
